What a metal hose is used for

A metal hose connects plant components that move relative to each other or are not exactly aligned. It absorbs vibration from engines and pumps. It compensates for misalignment during installation and withstands high temperatures. Typical applications are combined heat and power plants, standby generators, steam and thermal oil lines and compressed air.

Hose or expansion joint?

An expansion joint mainly absorbs the axial expansion of a line. A metal hose is more flexible. It compensates for misalignment and movement in several directions. The braid holds the internal pressure and protects the corrugations. For pure thermal expansion in exhaust lines expansion joints are usually the better choice.

What determines the service life

The decisive factors are the bend radius, the movement in operation and the temperature. If a hose is bent too tightly or installed twisted, the corrugations fatigue sooner. As the temperature rises, the permissible pressure falls. That is why we design the hose to your operating data and not just to the nominal size. We also supply matching flanges.

Frequently asked questions

Metal hose or expansion joint: which fits?

An expansion joint mainly absorbs the axial expansion of a line. A metal hose is more flexible and compensates for misalignment and movement in several directions. For pure thermal expansion in exhaust lines expansion joints are usually the better choice.

What is the braid for?

The braid holds the internal pressure and protects the corrugations.

What temperature can a metal hose withstand?

Up to 550 °C. As the temperature rises, the permissible pressure falls.

What determines the service life?

The bend radius, the movement in operation and the temperature. A hose that is bent too tightly or installed twisted fatigues sooner.

What do you need for a replacement hose?

A photo of the old hose with its length and connection dimensions is enough to start.

Do you deliver throughout Switzerland and abroad?

Yes. Eurolog delivers metal hoses to the installation site throughout Switzerland and abroad, for example to Germany, Italy or France. We arrange transport, customs clearance on import into Switzerland and export documents.

Do you also supply metal hoses that are not listed here?

Yes. The details on this page are examples. We also source other sizes, materials and makes, replacements for older plants and special designs to drawing. For a first enquiry a photo, the nameplate or a sketch is enough.

What we need for a quotation

Nominal size, length, medium, pressure, temperature, connection at both ends, movement in operation, quantity and required date. For a replacement a photo of the old hose with its length and connection dimensions is enough. If your part is not on this page, ask us anyway.

We supply customers in Switzerland and abroad. Every export enquiry is checked against Swiss export control and sanctions regulations.
