What an oxidation catalyst does

An oxidation catalyst uses the residual oxygen to convert carbon monoxide (CO) and formaldehyde in the exhaust gas of a gas engine into carbon dioxide and water. The reaction takes place on a thin precious metal layer on a honeycomb. The many fine channels give a large surface area with low back pressure.

When a catalyst needs replacing

A catalyst ages with every operating hour. Residues from the lubricating oil settle on the coating. High temperatures weaken it further. The values for carbon monoxide and formaldehyde rise slowly. If the periodic emission measurement shows values that are too high, the engine needs a new element.

Replacement made to measure

We source the new element to the dimensions of the old one. Diameter, length, cell density and type of installation stay the same. So it fits into the existing housing and nothing changes on the exhaust system.

For the same exhaust line we also supply expansion joints and flanges.

Frequently asked questions

When does a catalyst in a CHP plant need replacing?

When the periodic emission measurement shows values for carbon monoxide or formaldehyde that are too high. The coating ages due to residues from the lubricating oil and due to high temperatures.

Does the replacement catalyst fit into the existing housing?

Yes. We source the element to the dimensions of the old one: diameter, length, cell density and type of installation. Nothing changes on the housing or the exhaust line.

Why does the price of a catalyst change?

The coating contains precious metals such as platinum and palladium. Their share is calculated at the daily rate on the order date. The quotation states the price at the current rate.

What happens to the old catalyst?

We take it back on request. The precious metals in it are recycled.

How fast do I get a quotation?

Within 2 working days you receive a quotation, a question about missing data or the date of our quotation.

Do you deliver throughout Switzerland and abroad?

Yes. Eurolog delivers catalysts to the installation site throughout Switzerland and abroad, for example to Germany, Italy or France. We arrange transport, customs clearance on import into Switzerland and export documents.

Do you also supply catalysts that are not listed here?

Yes. The details on this page are examples. We also source other sizes, materials and makes, replacements for older plants and special designs to drawing. For a first enquiry a photo, the nameplate or a sketch is enough.

What we need for a quotation

Engine type and output, the dimensions of the old element or a photo of the nameplate, as well as the required limit values. Exhaust gas flow and exhaust gas temperature help us, if known. If your part is not on this page, ask us anyway.

We supply customers in Switzerland and abroad. Every export enquiry is checked against Swiss export control and sanctions regulations.
